CEDARBROOK SENIOR CARE AND REHAB, Allentown is having its Annual Holiday Bazaar on Friday, November 16th. Volunteers are needed 9:30-3:30 to assist residents with their shopping by escorting residents who can walk or pushing residents in wheelchairs, work at tables for bake sale/crafts, set up, clean up, etc. This is an amazing and fun day for everyone. DELAWARE & LEHIGH NATIONAL HERITAGE CORRIDOR, Easton needs help to get ready for our fall programming and preparing the boat and grounds for winter. Decorate the grounds and museum for fall events and Haunted Hugh Moore Park; prepare the flower beds for winter; staining wood; prepare exhibit room & displays, plus lots more. FRIENDS OF JOHNSTON, INC., Bethlehem Camel's Hump Farm on the Johnston Estate, Bethlehem is looking for volunteers to help plant a new arboretum and permaculture orchard. We are working outdoors every day from 9am- 4:00pm. Please wear clothing that can get dirty, heavy duty boots, and work gloves. Bring water and snacks as you need throughout your shift. October 2018 Pre-Holiday Project-Community Service Opportunity


NEED COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS?   
BASD COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICE 
NEEDS CHRISTMAS WRAPPED SHOEBOXES

Create Gift Boxes for Holiday Hope Chest

& Receive between 1-5 hours of Community Service

1 Hour per 3 wrapped boxes

Students can create holiday gift boxes to receive up to 5 hours of COMMUNITY SERVICE.  Empty Wrapped Boxes need to be brought into the Community Service Office by no later than 2:30 PM on Friday, November 9, 2018.
  (No boxes will be accepted after this date)
Directions on how to complete and submit the boxes are listed below:

  •  The box(es) should be a normal size “Shoebox(es)” with a lid – (See example)
     
  • The shoebox should be fully wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper and at least 2 sheets of tissue paper inside the box. Please see the video for instructions and what your box should look like when it's finished:

  • Fill out a timesheet (Very important) with the number of hours and number of boxes. Sign the timesheet and parent signature is also needed.

FEED THE CHILDREN, Bethlehem is currently accepting volunteer applications for our Teacher Store from dedicated and outgoing volunteers to help teachers shop for free school supplies and classroom furniture from 2:00-5:00 pm every Wednesday of the month, August through May. Check-in, check-out, assisting shoppers during open hours and restocking the store during the week. Volunteers are asked to arrive at 1:30 pm. THE GRESS MOUNTAIN RANCH, Orefield needs help from up to 50 volunteers for the Open Gate Farm Tour 10AM-5:30PM, on Sunday, October 21. Baked goods are needed for the bake sale and volunteers are needed to help with the food stands, raffle table, parking cars and other ranch activities. Minimum age 12 with adult supervision. Lehigh Valley Zoo - Volunteers Needed!
Major upcoming events! We are currently seeking volunteers to help with our two largest events of the year!
  • Boo at the Zoo (10/20, 10/21, 10/27 and 10/28) 

  • Winter Light Spectacular starting 11/9!

Volunteers at Boo at the Zoo will help manage various trick or treating stations throughout the zoo and distribute treats to the children! Volunteers are encouraged to dress in costumes for this event! (As volunteers will be working directly with children, all costumes must be family friendly!)  The dates/times for volunteering at this event are:

•             Saturday, October 20th   (9:30am-3:30pm)
•             Sunday, October 21st  (9:30am-3:30pm)
•             Saturday, October 27th  (9:30am-3:30pm)
•             And Sunday, October 28th   (9:30am-3:30pm)

Volunteers at the Winter Light Spectacular will help at a variety of festive, holiday stations including:

•             Costumed Characters
•             Holiday Crafts/Activities
•             Concession Stands/Hot Chocolate Booths
•             Holiday Game Booths
•             AND MORE!

This year, the Winter Light Spectacular will begin on Friday, November 9th and continue until Sunday, December 30th! This is an evening event that runs from 5p-10p every Wed-Sun (Closed on Mon/Tues!)

Each night you volunteer you will receive a free admission ticket to the Winter Lights event! You can either use the tickets to return and enjoy the lights as a guest OR give them away as gifts to family/friends!

BETHLEHEM SPECIAL OLYMPICS needs additional Basketball volunteers on Monday nights starting in January. Practices are held on Mondays from 6:30-8pm at Northeast Middle School. Volunteers only need to know the basics of basketball and be able to commit to attending most practices. QUI-LIBRIUM, Nazareth needs volunteers (age 14+) to be horse leaders and side helpers to assist during horseback riding and cart driving lessons for children and adults with special needs. Volunteers will be assigned to the same participant for one hour once a week for 11 weekly sessions. Volunteers are also needed for Special Events and doing work around the farm or in the office.
