JUNE 2018 Community Service Opportunities

WESTMINSTER VILLAGE, Allentown needs volunteers (age 14+) to help transport residents to activities, help with activities, engage and interact with the senior population. THE GRESS MOUNTAIN RANCH, Orefield has volunteer opportunities for youth (age 10 with an adult or 14+ w/o adult) to feed, water and care for small/large and exotic animals; do ground maintenance for stalls, pens, and pasture areas. LUKE'S UNIVERSITY HEALTH NETWORK, Allentown, Bethlehem, Coaldale, Easton, Quakertown, Stroudsburg, Phillipsburg, NJ needs volunteers (age 14+) in all locations (including former Sacred Heart Hospital) for Patient Advocates, Escorts, Gift Shop, Friendly Visitors, Lobby Greeter, and Campus Messenger. NORTHAMPTON CO. HISTORICAL & GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY, Easton is seeking volunteers (age 15+) to provide a warm welcome to visitors; impart information about museums, services/activities of NCHGS on phone and face-to-face; assist shopping patrons in the gift shop and with tourist info. HOLY FAMILY MANOR, Bethlehem needs youth volunteers (age 13+) to assist residents with various activities including cards and table games, exercise, crossword puzzles, arts and crafts, reading, gardening, and enjoying outdoor patios with their seniors. Other duties may include wheeling residents to/from activities and in-house therapy and salon appointments, assembling packets, and assisting with weekly patio picnics, watering planters, and beautifying outdoor areas. Valley Youth House is in great need of volunteers, Tuesday to Thursday.  We are moving large and small furniture and items out of a hotel to be donated to homeless youth who are setting up their first apartments.  The address of the volunteering site is 902-924 Hamilton St. Allentown, PA 18101.

CEDARBROOK SENIOR CARE AND REHAB, Allentown has volunteer opportunities for youth (age 13+): Gardening Helper - water/weed the gardens; Resident Visitor - spend time visiting with a resident outdoors, weather permitting, or inside on a bad weather day. Students interested in completing their community service hours this summer at Donegan Elementary School there is a MANDATORY meeting on June 13 from 11 am to 12 pm. It is MANDATORY for students to attend this meeting in order to volunteer at Donegan this summer. Students will have the opportunity to earn up to 121 hours of community service!

EQUI-LIBRIUM, INC., Nazareth needs volunteers to help at their horse camps for children/youth with disabilities. Help with riding lessons (walking next to the horse assisting the rider) and help with horse-related crafts and activities (feeding, grooming, etc.). Mandatory training will be provided from 12:30-3:30pm on 6/2, 7/14, and 8/11. Camps run 8:30am-12:30pm Monday through Friday 6/18-6/22, 7/9-7/13, 7/23-7/27, and 8/13-8/17. FEED THE CHILDREN, Bethlehem is looking for volunteers to join their "Weeknight Box Brigade." Volunteers pack boxes of food and personal care items which are then distributed across the Northeastern United States.   The Weeknight Box Brigade takes place the second Thursday of every other month from 5-8pm. Packing dates are 6/14, 8/9, 10/11,

MEALS ON WHEELS OF NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, Bethlehem is seeking meal delivery volunteers (18+years). Volunteer daily or as little as twice each month, according to your availability. Volunteers must possess a valid driver's license and have car insurance. The application process includes a criminal background check, orientation, and on-the-road training.
