May 2018 - Community Service Volunteer Opportunities

Portuguese Heritage Day at Holy Infancy School - Volunteers are needed! Come and have fun with us on Portuguese Heritage Day on :
June 8 from 6 PM-10 PM and June 9 1-10

EQUI-LIBRIUM, INC., Nazareth needs volunteers to help at their horse camps for children/youth with disabilities. Help with riding lessons (walking next the horse assisting the rider) and help with horse-related crafts and activities (feeding, grooming, etc.). Mandatory training will be provided from 12:30-3:30pm on 6/2, 7/14, and 8/11. Camps run 8:30am-12:30pm Monday through Friday 6/18-6/22, 7/9-7/13, 7/23-7/27, and 8/13-8/17. Celtic Classic volunteer registration is live.  Many opportunities for students as young as 14.  The Celtic Classic will take place 09/28-09/30 with additional opportunities to help w/ set up 09/15, 09/16, 09/22, 09/23.

Fountain Hill Elementary - is having a carnival and volunteers are needed to help run carnival games and if you would like to go in the dunk tank, a parental waiver needs to be signed prior to (please see below for waiver). LEPOCO Peace Center is looking for volunteers for their summer Peace Camp! There will be a training night on July 10th, which you will get hours towards volunteer hours.  Students who are interested and would like a volunteer interest form can contact Amanda Zaniesienko or Nancy Tate by calling the office, 610-691-8730, or they can email us, lepoco@fast.net.  A phone call is preferred.















BETHLEHEM SPECIAL OLYMPICS needs additional mentors for their athletes. A mentor needs to be a supporter, adviser, guide, coach, teacher, someone who gives help and advice to help a person learn a role, and can give specified training in a particular subject or event. BOUTIQUE AT THE RINK, Bethlehem is right around the corner (5/29-6/2) and many volunteers are needed to make this annual fundraiser successful. Volunteers are needed for set-up, donation drop-offs, sale days and break down. GRACEDALE NURSING HOME, Nazareth is seeking students (age 14+) for their Summer Youth Program. Help with activities, visit residents, and assist getting residents to appointments around the facility. CEDARBROOK NURSING HOME, Allentown needs volunteers (age 13+) to transport wheelchair-bound residents to and from in-house appointments and activities (and help at games/activities).  Days, weekends, and Tuesday evenings are available. Most shifts are 2 hours. All volunteers are required to complete an application, pass Criminal History Clearance, and meet for an interview. ASA PACKER ELEMENTARY 
Event: Asa Packer Patio Party (End of year carnival)
Date: 5/18/2018 
Time: 5-8pm (volunteers should arrive at 4:30pm)
Description: Volunteers will be asked to man a booth during the event.  They will be collecting tickets and will not be responsible for collecting money.  Additional responsibilities include explaining the game or activity to students and setting up activity for some booths.
