Community Service Opportunities - August - September 2018

EQUI-LIBRIUM, INC., Nazareth needs volunteers to help at their horse camps for children/youth with disabilities. Help with riding lessons (walking next to the horse assisting the rider) and help with horse-related crafts and activities (feeding, grooming, etc.). HOLY FAMILY MANOR, Bethlehem needs volunteers for their Annual Golf Outing on August 19 at Bethlehem Municipal Golf Course. Shifts may be as little as 2 hours or stay for the entire event (10am-7pm). HOLY FAMILY MANOR, Bethlehem needs youth volunteers (age 13+) to assist residents with various activities including cards and table games, exercise, crossword puzzles, arts and crafts, reading, gardening, and enjoying outdoor patios with their seniors. Other duties may include wheeling residents to/from activities and in-house therapy and salon appointments, assembling packets, and assisting with weekly patio picnics, watering planters, and beautifying outdoor areas. Valley Youth House is in great need of volunteers, Tuesday to Thursday.  We are moving large and small furniture and items out of a hotel to be donated to homeless youth who are setting up their first apartments.  The address of the volunteering site is 902-924 Hamilton St. Allentown, PA 18101.

CEDARBROOK SENIOR CARE AND REHAB, Allentown has volunteer opportunities for youth (age 13+): Gardening Helper - water/weed the gardens; Resident Visitor - spend time visiting with a resident outdoors, weather permitting, or inside on a bad weather day. Students interested in completing their community service hours this summer at Donegan Elementary School there is a MANDATORY meeting on June 13 from 11 am to 12 pm. It is MANDATORY for students to attend this meeting in order to volunteer at Donegan this summer. Students will have the opportunity to earn up to 121 hours of community service!

FEED THE CHILDREN, Bethlehem is looking for volunteers to join their "Weeknight Box Brigade." Volunteers pack boxes of food and personal care items which are then distributed across the Northeastern United States.   The Weeknight Box Brigade takes place the second Thursday of every other month from 5-8pm. BETHLEHEM SPECIAL OLYMPICS needs additional mentors for their athletes. A mentor needs to be a supporter, adviser, guide, coach, teacher, someone who gives help and advice to help a person learn a role, and can give specified training in a particular subject or event. Volunteer Opportunities - March 2018 (2)

EQUI-LIBRIUM, INC., Nazareth needs volunteers (14+ years) to be horse leaders and side helpers to assist during horseback riding and cart driving lessons for children and adults with special needs. Our next 11-week session starts March 12. Volunteers sign up to help the same participant for one hour once a week for 11 weeks. NORTHEAST MINISTRY, Bethlehem is seeking volunteers to tutor students in grades 1-12 during their After School Homework Club, Monday to Thursday from 3:30-5:30pm. Tutors assist students with homework, reading, and school projects. All tutors must complete and pass background clearances prior to volunteering. WILDLANDS CONSERVANCY, Emmaus needs volunteers to help with their Wild Eggs Event on Saturday, March 24.
