BETHLEHEM SPECIAL OLYMPICS needs additional Basketball volunteers on Monday nights starting in January. Practices are held on Mondays from 6:30-8pm at Northeast Middle School. Volunteers only need to know the basics of basketball and be able to commit to attending most practices. QUI-LIBRIUM, Nazareth needs volunteers (age 14+) to be horse leaders and side helpers to assist during horseback riding and cart driving lessons for children and adults with special needs. Volunteers will be assigned to the same participant for one hour once a week for 11 weekly sessions. Volunteers are also needed for Special Events and doing work around the farm or in the office. FEED THE CHILDREN, Bethlehem is currently accepting volunteer applications for our Teacher Store. We are looking for dedicated and outgoing volunteers to help teachers shop for free school supplies and classroom furniture from 2:00-5:00 pm every Wednesday of the month, August through May. Check-in, check-out, assisting shoppers during open hours and restocking the store during the week. Volunteers are asked to arrive at 1:30 pm. COMMUNITY ACTION COMMITTEE OF LEHIGH VALLEY, SBR PROGRAM - Slate Belt Rising needs volunteers from 11am-5pm on September 30 for their "The Slate Belt Bash" in Portland, PA. The event consists of a road rally scavenger hunt, games, food vendors, and live entertainment. Volunteers are needed to supervise games and for clean-up. WILDLANDS CONSERVANCY, Emmaus needs volunteers to help with clearing unwanted vegetation at their Thomas Darling Preserve, Blakeslee, on September 8th to make way for other native species to take root. Volunteers should be prepared for strenuous physical activity, wear thick long pants and have sturdy work boots, and bring sunscreen, bug and tick repellent. DeSales University is hosting the Special Olympics Fall Sectionals!!! Volunteers are needed!!! Activity will be on Sunday, October 14, 2018. 
Volunteering for Special Olympics is an amazing opportunity to meet new people, gain new experiences, and help athletes and their families have the best competition day possible. 
The volunteer positions available for the day include: 
  • Sports Venue Volunteers (this would involve cheering on the athletes in the stands, working water stations, scorekeeping, assisting with court management/event flow, etc...), 
  • Non-Sports Venue Volunteers (this would include ensuring athletes get to where they need to go, and interacting with them during the victory dance 
  • Olympic-town, meals, award ceremonies, etc...), and Support Services Volunteers ( this includes assisting in medical, parking, security and food matters).

2. Select your job

Step 1 - Submit Volunteer Registration:

    a. If your volunteer is part of a group that wants to stay together, they should identify themselves in the group box (DeSales Basketball Team, Insurance Group, Walmart)
    b. For question asking “Which Local Program” Please select: State Level – Event Volunteer
    c. ALL volunteers signing up to volunteer at EFS are CLASS B Volunteers 3. Hit: Submit Once submitted, you will be taken directly to the Volunteer Portal for Special Olympics and you can move directly to Step 2 below 

Step 2 - Selecting a Volunteer Job: 
1. Select: Event Sign Up 
2. Under “Select An Event” drop down select: 2018 Eastern Fall Sectional (EFS)
3. Select: Job listings that interests you and click on More Info on the right side of the job to view job description
4. Select: Sign Up Upon completion of signing up for a job, an email confirmation will be sent to you. You may review what you have signed up for by selecting “My Information” at the top of the page and viewing “My Calendar”.   

RETURNING VOLUNTEERS or AFTER YOU CREATE YOUR PROFILE & SIGN UP:

EQUI-LIBRIUM, INC., Nazareth needs volunteers to help at their horse camps for children/youth with disabilities. Help with riding lessons (walking next to the horse assisting the rider) and help with horse-related crafts and activities (feeding, grooming, etc.).
